Our main build is fully modular:
Modular / Custom design:
We also offer the option to construct and design a modular sauna with customization tailored to your preferences. Our standard sauna is entirely modular, wherein we fabricate all panels beforehand and then assemble them on-site. However, if necessary, we can further customize the sauna by conducting additional installation work on-site. While we aim to pre-build as much of the sauna as possible, we're flexible in adding customization at your location.
Abundant insulation:
Designed for use in all the Canadian seasons, even the winter (tested in southern Ontario winter at -14 celsius)
True R20 insulated walls, R24 ceiling and the option for a well insulated door
Designed to minimize thermal bridging which most saunas would suffer from
Full aluminum foil vapour barrier that is sealed with high heat aluminum tape
Plenty of Ventilation:

A bit about us and how we build:
We are a small business that handcrafts each sauna unit with exceptional attention to detail. I, Mark, am personally involved in every sauna build, ensuring our quality control remains high. Unlike mass production facilities or sawmills that churn out units, we take the time to ensure each sauna is built to last a lifetime. Up until Dec 1, 2024, we were constructing each sauna in my garage and assembling it completely before taking it apart for delivery.
As of December 1, 2024 we are now in an industrial unit at 160 Finchdene Sqaure, Scarborough. Unit 11. We found a perfect unit that was fully set up for wood working and assembling our saunas!
Once on-site at your location, we reassemble the sauna in about two hours, ensuring a seamless and sturdy installation.
Built to last:
Built locally in Toronto, Ontario. Each sauna is hand built for a top quality product.
Exterior
Interior
Fully sealed base:
Inside and outside, even underneath with aluminum! No competitor has anything even close to how good our bases are.
Full waterproof and draining floor. Use as much water as you want! Bath in the sauna, hose it down to wash it... It is fully waterproof unlike most (if not all) competitors.
It drains to the side so you don’t have to worry about water and ice buildup underneath like a common centre floor drain
Aluminum roof:
Interior wood:
Canadian Aspen and Basswood ¾” wood. Both are a superior choice for the sauna interior for these reasons:
We typically install wood horizontally for optimal airflow. This allows for vertical installation of strapping (furring strips), which allows for vertical airflow behind the wood. Vertical wood installation is also possible for an extra charge of $250 as we have to carefully layer the strapping to allow for airflow. Please note that shiplap cannot be installed vertically, but tongue and groove wood can.
We also offer the flexibility to install various wood types and styles according to your preferences and budget. Contact us to discuss it more.
Here is a list of other woods that we can source and install:
Cedar 1x4 or 1x6 tongue and groove (knotty or clear)
Cedar 5 1/4 shiplap
Easter white cedar tongue and groove
Clear Pine
Benches and Configuration:
Bench height is essential for an authentic Finnish sauna experience, where ideally, your feet should be level with or above the rocks. While this setup is easy to achieve in larger saunas with a three-tier bench design, it’s more challenging in smaller saunas. Often, images of compact saunas reveal a lower foot bench 8-15 inches below the rocks—a compromise we find unacceptable. That’s why we’ve thoughtfully and carefully crafted our saunas to keep your feet as elevated as possible while maintaining easy access to the first bench. Thanks to our high-quality insulation, your feet rest just below the rocks but stay comfortably warm, even in the depths of winter.
Floor board
Our saunas feature a removable floorboard that elevates your sauna experience. Designed to match your sauna's interior, this floorboard offers several advantages:
Colour choice: (No other competitor that we know of offers this!)
Customization: (These will cost extra. Contact us to discuss your requests)
Here is a list of some custom options along with our estimated additional costs. As you’ll notice on our website, we aim to provide as much information as possible to help you make an informed decision about your sauna and your budget.
Heater:
For our large 4 person sauna, we use a 6000 watt CSA approved heater that is locally manufactured in Markham, Ontario by Fenno Manufacturing since 1944.
For smaller builds, we will use a 3000-5000 watt heaters from SaunaCore.
Electrical:
We strive to simplify the process of purchasing and installing a sauna, ensuring a seamless experience for you. Unlike many sauna sellers who merely provide the heater, and control panel, leaving customers to grapple with electrical intricacies, we've taken extensive measures to alleviate these concerns. Recognizing the challenges individuals face in navigating electrical setups, especially with saunas, we've gone above and beyond to streamline the process.
We suspect that sauna manufacturers don’t direct the customers in regards to electrical setup because they don’t want customers asking the hard questions. Questions like, “Is this size of heater legally allowed to be installed in this size of sauna?", or how can a 3” thick control panel be installed on the outside of the timber sauna wall that is 1.5” thick?”. And “Can the control panel get rained on?”.
We think this is crazy that you should be left to decipher all the connections and source all the correct components. Many electricians may lack experience in setting up saunas, leading to potential errors and increased costs. Recognizing this, we've taken extra steps to provide you with a hassle-free sauna setup experience.
The extra steps we have taken (which no one else does) is that we work closely with an electrical contracting company and we also work with Esafe.
We work closely with Lia Electric Ltd., who specialize in OUR sauna construction and heater specifications. This ensures a seamless installation tailored precisely to your needs. They are our preferred electrical contractors in the Greater Toronto Area. They may install in locations that are outside of the GTA but you will need to contact them to find out.
When you purchase a sauna from us, we do not include any electrical components or connections. We simply provide you with the heater and the controls. The heater and controls need to be wired together and wired to your main power line. There are many specific parts that are needed and Lia Electric Ltd. would be your best choice for seamlessly getting your sauna up and running.
A typical sauna setup would be something like this: running a sufficiently large wire from your main panel to the sauna. This ensures ample power for the heater and light. The main power wire should be connected to a sub-panel on the wall of the sauna, enabling power distribution. All of these components would need to be rated for exterior use and the controls will need to be placed inside an approved enclosure box.
Lia Electric Ltd. maintains a comprehensive inventory of all necessary components, facilitating quick and efficient setup of your sauna.
We also work with Esafe to certify our saunas to CSA standards. From our research, no other sauna builder does this (or many they can’t do this because of their poor design).
Working with Lia and Esafe allows us to give you a few different options available depending on where you live.
Option #1: If you live in the Greater Toronto Area - Lia to install everything.
You can hire Lia Electric to install everything for you. Firstly, they can pre-install everything onto the sauna before it arrives at your house. They would come to our shop and install in the build phase. They would then come to your house shortly after we deliver the sauna to complete the install to your main panel.
Lia Electric can then apply for the electrical permit to get all the work approved by ESA (Electrical Safety Authority).
Feel free to reach out to Lia Electric Ltd. to discuss your sauna setup and specific requirements. They are well-equipped to address any inquiries you may have and provide tailored solutions to ensure your sauna installation meets your expectations.
This would be a separate contract directly between you and Lia Electric. Ryt Saunas will not receive any compensation for this arrangement. Our primary goal is to simplify the electrical setup process for our customers and minimize any potential headaches.

Please note, we recommend Lia Electric Ltd. but we do not receive financial compensation for recommending them. We do not receive financial compensation for anything related to the electrical set up of our saunas. Our affiliation with Lia Electric Ltd. is purely to help our customers find a reliable and competent electrician.
Customers are free to source all their own electric components and source their own electrician.
Option #2: If you live in the Greater Toronto Area AND have your own electrician to make the final connection.
In this case, Ryt Saunas will pre-install all the electrical components and have the sauna inspected by Esafe. They will certify that all the installed components are up to CSA standards.
All your electrician will need to do is:
These items should be very easy and straightforward for any licensed electrican.
The package price for Ryt Saunas to install all the components and have it inspected by Esafe is $1600.
Option #3: If you live outside of the Greater Toronto Area.
Ryt Saunas will provide and pre-install just the components (no connected wires):
No electrical wires will be installed or connected.
No electrical inspections will be done. All inspections will need to be done by the customer after the sauna is connected by their electrician.
Package price for the installation of all the components is $1200.
Option #4: Wherever you live.
Ryt Saunas will supply all the necessary components for your sauna installation (excluding the main power line from your house panel and the required main breaker).
We will provide a convenient box containing all the components your electrician will need. This will save you time and money by eliminating the need for your electrician to source these individual parts separately.
We will provide:
Package price is $950.
Option #5 -No electrical
Ryt Saunas will deliver and assembly the sauna only. No electrical components or connections will be made. Only the heater and the control box will be supplied.
Price = whatever the price of your sauna is. No extra cost for the electrical.
Due to potential warranty concerns, we are currently unable to provide on-site installation for sauna components outside of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). As a small company, we do not have a nationwide network of electricians. This would make it challenging to promptly troubleshoot and resolve any potential issues that may arise.
We are confident in the quality and reliability of our sauna packages and strive to provide excellent customer service. However, we understand that unforeseen problems can occur. We want to ensure we can quickly and effectively address any issues that may arise, which is best achieved within the GTA where we have readily available resources.
Important Note: The warranty is void if the sauna is not connected by a licensed electrician with the proof of an invoice or permit. We will not warranty any of our products if not connected properly, as improper connections can lead to excessive heat, lack of heat, fires, and various other issues.
Due to increasing demand and the exceptional quality of our builds, we anticipate that pricing for our 4-person sauna will rise to approximately $14,000 by Spring 2025. Similar adjustments will apply to all sauna sizes. If you've been considering contacting us or checking out our demo, now is the perfect time to lock in current pricing before the upcoming increase.
Now available - top grade 1x4 tongue and groove Basswood for the interior. This is an upgrade and the costs per sauna size are:
1-2 person sauna: $400
2 person sauna: $500
3 person sauna: $550
